McKenzie Marie Walt's Celebration of Life

McKenzie Walt, 6, Douglassville, entered into rest Thursday, September 25, 2008, with members of her loving and devoted family present. She died as she lived – with grace and courage.
McKenzie was the beloved daughter of Danielle and David, and adoring sister, Zoe, 2.
She is survived by her loving grandparents, Richard Frederick,Sr., Carole Frederick and Josephine Walt.
She is also survived by many loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Together, McKenzie’s extended family cherished and supported her throughout the extraordinary six years of her beautiful life.
McKenzie was born March 21, 2002 at Bryn Mawr Hospital, with a rare and difficult-to-diagnose condition. She embraced life with determination, with a resilient, positive spirit in the face of all her obstacles. True to her nature, she loved the elegance of butterflies and the beauty of rainbows.
Although only four other children in the world shared her condition, she found certainty in life’s simple pleasures. She had an inner light that allowed her to shine brightly, and warm those around her. She delighted in doing things for others, and her greatest happiness was spending time with her family.
She tenderly touched the lives of everyone in the community that she met, especially her teachers and fellow kindergarteners in the Daniel Boone School District. She warmed the hearts of the many medical professionals that cared for her throughout her life, especially those at DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington.
McKenzie’s special gift was her ability to bring joy to others, and she embraced life with love and laughter. She lived “McKenzie’s Way.”
Donations in her memory, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the McKenzie Walt Fund, c/o St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 548 Old Swede Road, Douglassville, PA 19518.
A candlelight vigil to celebrate McKenzie’s life will be held Tuesday at 7pm at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rt. 662, Douglassville. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the vigil. As rainbows were a special joy in McKenzie's life, her family is encouraging everyone in attendance to wear a variety of colors to celebrate her vibrant life and her love for rainbows.
